DENITRATION CATALYST AND DENITRATING METHOD USING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To provide a denitration catalyst with which NOx in exhaust gas from an inner combustion engine with lean air/fuel ratio can be efficiently removed at high gas space velocity, and to provide a denitrating method with high efficiency and high reliability using this catalyst to remove NOx in exhaust gas from an inner combustion engine with a lean air/fuel ratio. CONSTITUTION:This catalyst consists of active alumina as a carrier on which nickel or cobalt and silver and/or silver oxide are deposited. The active alumina has the relations that the total volume (A) of pores having <=300Angstrom pore diameter measured by a nitrogen adsorption method, total volume (B) of pores having <=50Angstrom pore diameter, and total volume (C) of pores having 100 to 300Angstrom pore diameter satisfy (B)>=(A)X30% and (C)<=(A)X15%.
