PURPOSE:To improve the color reproducibility and the gradation of a magenta color image by incorporating and dispersing a specified magenta coupler in combination with a specified high b.p. org. solvent in the layer of a silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the magenta coupler shown by formula I in combination with at least one of the high b.p. org. solvent shown by formula II are incorporated and dispersed in the silver halide emulsion layer. In formula II, R1 and R2 are each hydrogen atom or a substituent group, X is hydrogen atom or a group capable of releasing by reacting with the oxidant of a color developing main agent, but R1 and R2 are not hydrogen atom at the same time, R3-R5 are each alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic ring group. The total amount of R3-R5 groups is 16-50. Thus, the color reproducibility and the gradation of the magenta color image are improved. |
