PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent regeneration output and travel durability and enabling high density records by incorporating aminoquinone structural units into a resin composition having specific physical properties. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic recording medium having a whole thickness of <=10μm, a 3% elongation strength of >=20N/mm<2> , a dynamic buckling strength of >=30g, a magnetic layer surface roughness of <=10nm and containing aminoquinone structure units of formula I and/or formula II (R1 is H, an alkyl, an aralkyl, phenyl; R2 is an alkylene, phenylene; Y is N, CH) in a composition for the binder component of the magnetic layer is obtained by coating a magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic material powder on a support.
