The apparatus and method for storing a telephone number without writing tools on line consists of two or more telephone(10) connected in parallel to one line, a parallel connected telephone detecting unit(20) determining on/off-state of loop for the telephone, a control unit(30) for causing a control signal when a on-state signal from the detecting unit is detected, a DTMF receiving unit(40) detecting a signal input for storing the entered telephone number, a tone generation unit(50) informing user of completing preparation for storing the number, a display driving unit(60) which causes driving signal for displaying the number when the number is entered from the telephone to the control unit, a displaying unit(70) displaying the number when the driving signal is detected and a storing unit(80) preserving the number from being erased although the telephone turns off.
