The float (2) which extends up out of the water has at least one full-length bore (4) through which runs the fishing line (3). At the end of the bore pointing towards the free end of the line the float has an open chamber (5) to take a fishing hook (6) fixed on the line. The bore runs vertically from top to bottom through the float and the chamber opens down into the water.
