PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drain water before flooding without bringing drain equipment in the disaster-stricken area by arranging a detecting means for detecting that water gathers in a machine room or a pit, and draining the water outside by starting a pump by closing ordinary time solenoid valves. SOLUTION: A float switch 4a is arranged to detect water gathered in a hoistway 1, and a float switch 4b is arranged to detect water gathered in a machine room 5. When the float switch 4a or 4b detects the water, a control panel 6 closes ordinary time solenoid valves 10a, 10b, and actuates a pump 9b by starting a motor 9a. Next, the control panel 6 opens draining solenoid valves 13a or 13b, 13c to drain the water gathered in a pit 3 or the machine room 5 to the outside to thereby drain the water by the pump of a power unit of a hydraulic elevator before flooding an elevator apparatus without bringing drain equipment in the disaster-stricken area.
