<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve adhesion performance while maintaining high resistance to fatigue of an intermediate adhesion layer in sliding material comprising multiple layers of aluminum alloy comprising a layer of aluminum-based sliding alloy through the intermediate adhesion layer comprising aluminum alloy as a backing metal layer. <P>SOLUTION: In a bearing 1 comprising multiple layers of aluminum alloy, a bearing alloy layer 4 comprising aluminum alloy is attached through the intermediate adhesion layer 3 comprising aluminum alloy to backing metal of steel 2. The intermediate adhesion layer is composed of two layers of a lower layer 5 and an upper layer 6, and hardness of the lower layer 5 to get in contact with the backing metal of steel 2 is lower than that of the upper layer 6. Since the lower layer 5 is more flexible, its adhesion performance to the backing metal of steel 2 is excellent.
