PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for correcting image distortion due to camera-shake. SOLUTION: An electronic still camera is provided with a CMOS imaging board, and the CMOS image sensor of the CMOS imaging board images an object to obtain image data of an image and to write the data to a buffer memory. The DSP of the buffer memory of the electronic still camera adjusts the write position of a horizontal position of each horizontal line configuring the image to the buffer memory so that the correlation of a concerned horizontal line with respect to its adjacent line is the highest, thereby correcting horizontal distortion of the image when the optical axis of a photographing optical system is deflected in a horizontal direction.
