A lens assembly including a drive unit and an automatic focus regulating apparatus including the same are provided to remarkably reduce the overall size of a lens assembly by adhering a drive section to a lens barrel. An automatic focus regulating apparatus has a lens barrel accommodating a lens unit(220) to image a subject to an image sensor. A drive section including a magnet, a yoke, a drive coil, and a resilient member is formed at the outer periphery of the lens barrel. The inner diameter of the magnet or the drive coil is smaller than the maximum outer diameter of the lens barrel. The lens barrel includes a plurality of diameter portions. The magnet and the drive coil are disposed along the outer periphery of the diameter portion which does not have the maximum diameter.
