<p>There is disclosed a matter propulsion system including an elongate containment area (12) containing a propellable matter, and a flow path (20) intersecting that area at at least one intersection (22, 24) along which fluid propulsion matter can be propelled towards and/or away from the containment area at an acute angle to its axis (18), thereby causing a flow of the propellable matter along the containment area.
