<p>Equipment is included to detect blockage of the filter and to clean it. A second filter with an external inlet is connected through a line and valve to the pump suction side. The first filter can be connected to the pump, to carry a reverse flow of filtered sea water into the first filter, to clear blockage. The first and/or second filter inlets are connected to the exterior by a line extending upwards, to keep the sea water inlet well away from the sea bed (3). The equipment has a structure (2) allowing it to rest on the sea bed. The first filter retains smaller particles than the second. The volumetric capacity of the second filter is no greater than that of the first. A tank stores water treatment agents, and has a largely-flexible wall. It is a flexible fabric pocket coated with elastomer. There are two such tanks and pumps for injection into the filtered sea water lines. Two lines (10, 10a, 10b) connect to the pipeline. They are in parallel with the filtered sea water circuit. They have a degree of flexibility or deformability. The equipment is negatively-buoyant.</p> |
