PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is capable of reducing deflection of a transfer belt without increasing the number of parts. SOLUTION: A displacing force generation means is provided which generates a displacing force to displace a transfer belt 15 to one side in a breadthwise direction during rotation of the transfer belt 15. The transfer belt 15 is deflected to only one side in the breadthwise direction by the displacing force generation means to eliminate meandering of the transfer belt 15, and as a result, the image forming apparatus capable of reducing deflection of the transfer belt 15 without increasing the number of parts can be obtained.
