PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back-flow prevention component preventing a water flow when a water meter is attached reversely. SOLUTION: A space part 6 having a cross section not less than that of a cylindrical cavity part 5 is provided to an intermediate part of the cylindrical cavity part 5 of an inflow part or an outflow part of the water meter. A water stop ball 1 having a cross section not less than that of the cylindrical cavity part 5 and not more than that of the space part 6 is movably inserted into the space part 6. A locking pawl 2 is fitted into an inner wall of the space part 6, wherein the locking pawl 2 has a cylindrical shape having an inner diameter not less than the diameter of the water stop ball 1, a plurality of protrusions extended to substantially the center of the cylindrical shape, and the distance of the tips of the plurality of protrusions not more than the diameter of the water stop ball 1.
