PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent omission of a work for replacing a customer's medium with a testing medium in the event of maintenance. SOLUTION: This ticket issuing printer is equipped with a printing section for printing on a medium and a loading section with a loading door for storing a medium. The ticket issuing printer includes an operation mode switching section for switching between a normal operation mode for performing a normal ticket issuing operation and a test mode for a maintenance work, and an opening/closing detection section 851 for detecting an opening or closing state of the loading door. The ticket issuing printer further includes a control section that performs controlling so as to indicate a message that a medium loaded to the loading section should be replaced with a testing medium dedicated for the test mode according to a detection result of the opening or closing state of the loading door obtained by the opening/closing detection section 851 during the normal operation mode when the normal operation mode is switched to the test mode by the operation mode switching section.
