PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a free piston generator capable of controlling behavior of a piston with higher accuracy.SOLUTION: A control device 18 controls a power generation amount so that a speed of a piston 14 reaches a first speed command value (expansion stroke) and a second speed command value (compression stroke) by electric braking during power generation of a free piston generator 10. A power transmission amount is controlled by exciting a coil 26 so that the speed of the piston 14 reaches the first and the second speed command values during motoring. The control device 18 sets the first and the second speed command values in a next reciprocating period based on a top dead center position and a bottom dead center position of the piston 14 in a prescribed reciprocating period in setting the first and the second speed command values.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
