PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that, even when an environmental temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature, suppresses the quantity of heat required to reach a predetermined printable temperature and the quantity of heat per unit time during continuous paper feed so as to prevent extension of warm-up time.SOLUTION: A fixing device 20 is a fixing device comprising a fixing member that is heated by a heat source, an opposing member that is arranged opposite to the fixing member to form a nip part with the fixing part, and an environmental temperature sensor S1 that detects an environmental temperature. When an environmental temperature detected on the basis of an output from the environmental temperature sensor S1 is equal to or less than a first threshold, and the number of sheets for image formation in a subsequent print job is equal to or less than a second threshold, the fixing device changes an interval between recording media to be passed through the nip part to a time interval longer than usual.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
