PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrite carrier core material for electrophotographic developer that is high in magnetization and resistance and is also low in specific gravity, and a method of producing the same whereby it is possible to obtain uniform particles conveniently and with good economical efficiency.SOLUTION: A ferrite carrier core material for electrophotographic developer is characterized by using a ferrite particle that has an apparent density of 1.5-2.0 g/cmand, when saturation magnetization is X(Am/kg) and electric resistance is Y(Ω), satisfies the following formula.
