<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print document data on a host device by a printer without requiring a printer driver for the host device as in the prior art. <P>SOLUTION: In this printer, inquiry information as to print setting transmitted from a host device is received, reply information based on its own intrinsic information is transmitted to the host device with respect to the received inquiry information, print setting information transmitted from the host device based on the reply information is received, print-objective data are required to the host device according to the received print setting information, the print-objective data transmitted from the host device according to the requirement are received, and the print is carried out based on the received print-objective data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
