<p>A sliding gate valve for closing the emptying vessels contg. liquids, partic. vessels contg. molten metal, has means for moving a sliding valve plate along two converging axes, the plate having >=1 casting hole. The two axes are perpendicular to each other, the sliding plate being maintained forceably against a fixed plate which co-operates with an outlet socket from the vessel for the discharge of liquid. The valve reduces the erosion commonly encountered in the casting holes of the vessels. It enables casting holes of different dia. to be used.</p> |
