PURPOSE:To polish an end part of an optical fiber into a recessed surface even when the core is made of plastic by adhering the end part of the optical fiber core conductor fixed in the center hole of the core, and polishing it after etching. CONSTITUTION:The end part 22 of the optical fiber core conductor 20 is inserted into the center hole of the core 10 made of thermosetting resin and adhered fixedly with an adhesive 30. The end surface 16 of the center hole 10 is dipped in a 10% aq. solution of hydrofluoric acid for nine minutes to form a stepped recessed part 26. This recessed part is polished by using a 1mum cerium oxide polishing material to obtain the smooth recessed end surface 24 of the optical fiber 22. |
