A roof dormer (1) comprising two side walls and a roof is provided which is intended to achieve cost-effective production, transport and installation whilst at the same time being readily adaptable to a wide range of installation situations. To this end, the roof consists of a prefabricated roof part (8) and the side walls of prefabricated side parts (6, 7), and the side parts (6, 7) and the roof part (8) are in each case designed as mutually separate prefabricated parts having a support frame (13, 24) and an outer cladding (19, 20, 27). Furthermore, a process for producing a groove and tongue for a tongue-and-groove jointing of two parts is provided in which a groove is formed in one surface of one of the parts and a tongue is formed on one surface of the other part. For the rapid and cost-effective production of this tongue and groove, a first cut edge and a second cut edge inclined respective to the first cut edge are formed in such a manner that the lines of intersection of the cut edges with the surface of one part have a spacing from one another and the cut edges intersect at a distance from the surface of one part which is equal to the depth of the groove to be formed. Furthermore, the part thus cut out is firmly mounted as a tongue on the surface of the other part. <IMAGE>
