ENCODING SYSTEM FOR STILL PICTURE DATA

PURPOSE:To reduce the deterioration of a picture quality and to encode still picture data by one screen with comparatively low compressibility by encoding the fine part of a picture change with a comparatively low compressibility and encoding the small part of a picture change with comparatively high compressibility. CONSTITUTION:An analog video signal supplied to an input terminal 9, after it is converted to a digital still picture signal with an A/D converter 10, is written into a memory 6. By still picture data by one screen stored into the memory 6, the picture is divided into plural areas in accordance with the fact whether the part where the picture is finely changed is large or the part with the small degree of the change of a picture is large. The still picture data of an area where the part to change the picture fine is large are encoded with an encoding system with comparatively low compressibility. The still picture data of the area where the part with the small degree of the change of the picture is large are encoded with the encoding system of the comparative high compressibility.
