<p>A test kit is provided herein for qualitatively determining the quality of drink ing water. The test kit includes at least one test tube containing a predetermined amount of a composition comprising an anti-microbially-active protein which has been isola ted from mussels, and a glycogen additive which is added to the isolated protein to produ ce an admixture containing the isolated protein and the glycogen additive, the glycoge n additive being added in an amount so that the composition contains at least one molecule of added glycogen per molecule of anti-microbially-active protein which has been isolated from the mussels. A marking on the test tube indicates a pre-determined volume in th e test tube. An indicator extends along the tube and indicates different qualities of water to be tested. The water to be tested is placed into the tube in an amount correspondi ng to the pre-determined amount. The tube is then shaken and allowed to rest. The qualit y of the water being tested is determined by visually correlating the amount of precipita te within the test tube along the indicator.</p> |
