<p>Endothelial cells which express a protein having IλB activity such that NFλB activation of the cells is substantially blocked may be prepared by altering the genetic material of the cells so that IλB activity is expressed continuously, immediately following endothelial cell activiting stimuli or on demand in response to a predetermined external stimulus e.g. by introducing heterologous IλB coding sequences or promoters into the cells. Organs and tissue comprising such endothelial cells are useful in transplantation e.g. xenotransplantation, as they are advantageously less susceptible to rejection.</p> |
