PURPOSE:To provide an ink-detecting device in which the quantity of ink in the respective ink tanks, color of ink and existence of the ink tank are detected with high precision at a low cost in an ink-jet printer equipped with the ink tanks of a plurality of colors. CONSTITUTION:Light sources 111 are provided in the optically opposite positions by sandwiching the peripheral wall of an ink tank between both sides. Each detection is enabled by detecting the transmitted quantity of light of ink which is separated into a plurality of colors through the light sources 111 and a photoelectric conversion sensor unit 112 for detecting ink. |
