<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct accurate control of optical disks such as a DVD-R and a DVD-RW, on which LPP is formed, by eliminating adverse effect due to the change in returned light quantity caused by existence of the LPP. <P>SOLUTION: An information recording device is provided with a pickup that irradiates recording light beams onto a disk, on which prepits are formed, and outputs data related to returned light quantity, an interval determining circuit that determines a data obtaining interval in which the returned light beams are not affected by the prepits, a sample-and-hold circuit which obtains the data relative to the returned light quantity in the interval and a microcomputer which controls recording power based on the data. The microcomputer obtains the returned light quantity data within a data obtaining interval in which the returned light beams are not affected by the prepits and controls the recording power based on the data. The sample-and-hold circuit detects pit levels or the like in a recording mark interval of 9T to 11T which are hardly affected by the LPP and controls the recording power based on the above result.
