A cutter is provided, particularly suitable for cutting fruits, vegetables, and especially potatoes. The cutter has a frame which holds a slide plate leading to a knife blade. Both the slide plate and knife blade are formed with a number of parallel three-sided channels. The sides of each channel are equal in size, and adjacent sides are positioned about 120.degree. apart. The slide plate and knife blade are relatively positioned in an offset manner so that the respective channels cooperatively form a number of hexagonal cutting openings, as viewed in a cutting direction along the channels.
