PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording medium which is not affected by the dispersion of characteristics at the tie of manufacturing disk, is suitable for mark edge recording, and is capable of densification in a phase transition type optical recording medium. SOLUTION: This recording medium is constituted by successively forming a first dielectric layer, recording layer, second dielectric layer and reflection layer on a substrate, and is constituted so that the recording/erasing/reproducing of information are executed by utilizing the fact that a phase transition between a crystalline phase and non-crystalline phase is caused in the recording layer by the intensity of a laser light reflected from the substrate side. In such a case, the reflection factor of the optical recording medium at the time of reproducing is kept to be 20% to 30% when the recording layer is of the crystalline phase, and is kept to be <=5% when the recording layer is of non-crystalline phase. The light absorption factor of the recording layer at the time of recording is kept to be larger in the crystalline phase than in non-crystalline phase, and the light transmittance of the photo recording medium is kept to be <1%. |
