The rotation axis of the band support is eccentric to the longitudinal centre axis (MA) of the swing arm (17), specifically set to the side of this and clear of the arm section. The arm presents a closed box profile whose vertical sidewall is spaced (D) from the rotation axis of the swing arm (17). Assuming the arm end guide to form a swivel bearing round an horizontal axis bolt, the bearing is cantilevered out from the side of the arm so the saw band support bearing lies to the side of the arm in plan view. The arm terminates in height-adjustable rollers (36,37) and rides track sector (40) on the frame via the arm bearing (39). Apart from the central setting as shown, the wedge shape of the column (19) produces a shorter swing arm (17) throughout and vertical guides (42,43) on the outside of the guide column (19) guide the band support via fitted rollers. Power cylinder (45) between the column end guides (42,43) controls their height adjustment as required.
