The device has a rotatable pressure plate (7) which presses against the top surface of a parcel unit (11) that stands on the turntable (6). The pressure plate is connected to a stroke device (18) over a spacer (17). The stroke device is located opposite the slider (19) at the side of the pressure plate. The slider is connected to the end of a second stroke device (20) which has a vertically movable toothed rack (21). The rack is moved by a pinion (22) towards the pressure plate.
