PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stable fixing drive control by detecting the input current value of a servomotor and observing the rotational state (LOCK signal) of the motor, when the detected value is put within a fixed range. SOLUTION: A counter is reset to make a starting signal for an instruction to start the servomotor active (ON). Then, detection by a detecting circuit 48 is executed to detect a change in a servomotor input current Vi after being processed by A/D conversion by an A/D converter 44. It is judged whether the range of the change (|Vi|) is put within a fixed value (standard value) or not. When the range of the change (|Vi|) is within the standard value, it is judged whether a count value reaches the fixed value or not, to detect the LOCK signal. Thus, the LOCK signal can be detected without setting an unnecessary great time margin, so that time for ignoring the state of the servomotor by a CPU 41 can be shortened. Therefore, the fact that the rotation of the motor 21 is stable or not in the state where the influence of offset toner is eliminated can be accurately detected.
