<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable normal reproduction from a desired image by eliminating the position deviation of magnetic tape from the detachment of search key by an operator to the start of ordinary reproduction. SOLUTION: When an operator detaches his hand from the search key and switches a reproducing mode from a search mode to an normal reproducing mode, while the magnetic tape is being conveyed in a high-speed conveying mode (2nd operating mode) for conveying the magnetic tape at a speed higher than normal reproducing speed, first, the conveyance of magnetic tape in the high-speed conveying mode is stopped. After the high-speed conveyance mode is stopped and before starting conveyance in a normal conveying mode (1st operating mode), the magnetic tape is rewound. Its rewinding amount can be found by adding the number of pulses corresponding to the time which is considered necessary until a servo part 15 is stabilized after the of ordinary reproducing processing to the number of pulses of a capstan stored in a memory 18. When the magnetic tape is rewound completely, conveyance in the reverse direction is stopped and conveyance in the ordinary conveying mode is started.</p> |
