A dual resonance antenna 116 operable at two wavelengths comprising a tubular element 118, a central element 124, the element 118 being electrically connected to element 124, the element 124 extending from within element 118 and outwardly from the rim 120 of the tubular element, and being electrically connected to a feed element. The central element can be coiled or of slidable retractable sections. The dielectric element 122 can be moved along the central element or loaded to match impedances (Figures 11 and 12). The electrical characteristics of the elements at higher and lower frequencies is described. The antenna is used in a multi-mode radio handset. |
