PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the work efficiency while suppressing design modification by providing a control means for causing an engine control section to make a transition to any one of postprocessing state, print waiting state or print state reset upon ending the print operation. SOLUTION: Upon receiving a print start signal from a reader controller 901, a printer 2001 starts printing and eventually makes a transition to post- processing state, e.g. cleaning, upon ending the print operation. When a user set a document on a document table 102 and depresses a print start key, the reader controller 901 delivers a/PRNT signal to an engine control section 2002 which then delivers a transition disable command to bring about a print waiting state. Subsequently, a transition enable command is delivered to start printing. Since a transition is made to post-processing using the transition disable command and the transition enable command and next printing can be started without waiting the end thereof, the work efficiency can be enhanced. |
