PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a palladium-103 seed for a therapy inside a tissue that conforms to such requirements as the more economical use of the activity of Pd-103, the minimization of self-absorption, the homogeneity of a radiation field, the improvement of a space radiation dose rate distribution, the good visibility and the identification of positions in the X-ray diagnosis and the good wear-resistance of radioactive nuclides. SOLUTION: A small radiation source of radioactive palladium-103 for medical use includes a radioactive carrier matrix composed of a structurally stable porous inorganic material containing palladium-103 in fine pores as a metal or in the form of a stable water-insoluble Pd-103 compound. In the small radiation source, the said carrier matrix allows generated radiation to pass through and is enclosed in a corrosion-resistant biomedically-appropriate material that has the resistance to the said radiation. |
