PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve economical efficiency by diverting a part of a gas for a heating zone to a preheating zone in a system where the preheating zone and the heating zone are divided and proper but different atmospheric gases are supplied respectively to both zones so that a high quality sintered metal is obtained by rapidly eliminating the carbon component in the preheating zone and treating with strong reducing force in the heating zone. SOLUTION: This device for producing porous material is provided with a preheating zone 1 for decomposing and removing the organic components by heating a base material formed by impregnating a porous carrier body of the organic matter with a slurry liquid containing metallic powder and a heating zone 2 for sintering the remaining metallic powder, the preheating zone and the heating zone are divided from each other, the gas in the heating zone is supplied to the preheating zone and, after a reducing gas to be supplied is reacted with a gas containing an oxidizing component to form H2O and CO2 as the oxidizing gas component, the gas is supplied to the preheating zone.
