PURPOSE: To manufacture a pelletized activated carbon with carbon nanotube that has superior adsorption capability against volatile organic compounds, virus and bacillus. CONSTITUTION: Specific surface area of a carbon nanotube is increased by thermal chemical vapor deposition, and then dipped in a mixed solution of phenol resin and novolak-epoxy in order to adjust its viscosity. Then, the gelled carbon nanotube is pelletized. The pelletized carbon nanotube is first hardened under oxygen atmosphere (175deg.C) for 2hrs, and then it is carbonized under argon atmosphere (600-900deg.C) for 40 to 80min to give optimal micropore/nanopore volume as well as specific surface area to pelletized activated carbon.
