PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily download device control software for controlling a device.

SOLUTION: When an HTTP communication module 10 receives a request from a client PC with an HTTP communication module, a printer PT discriminates an OS used by a client PC from an environment variable added to the request by an OS discrimination module 11. A driver location retrieving module 11 retrieves a location address of a printer driver corresponding to the discriminated OS from a driver location database 12. An HTML generating module 14 generates a web page carrying a link to the location address and notifies the client PC of the web page as a response through the HTTP communication module 10.
