The length of a section of backing removed, is measured. This is designated as the unstretched seal length. From this measurement, the extension of the seal is determined. Points A and B on the vehicle surface, define length LAB. The application roller is moved between the points A, B, i.e. the reference starting- and end points, over an interval of time. The length L of backing removed during this interval, is measured. From the ratio L / LAB, a measure of the extension of the seal section between the points A and B is derived. An independent claim is included for the corresponding seal applicator. |
