A vane assembly for a gas turbine engine comprises a vane 100 in contact at one end 105 with a platform 102, an anti-bonding layer being provided between the end 105 of the vane 100 and the platform 102 so as to prevent a bond forming there between. The end 105 of the vane 100 may be located within a slot or aperture 107 in the platform 102, and the anti-bonding layer may be applied to the end 105 of the vane 100 and/or the platform 102. The vane 100 may be brazed, at a bond end 103 thereof, to a further platform 101, and the vane may be further constrained, at the end 105, by residual bonding compound (braze) remaining after attempting to bond with the anti-bonding layer. |
