PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fold a flange without squeezing a projection provided on a panel. SOLUTION: A hemming roller 10 has a first column 40 and a second column 42 which are concentric with each other and have the same diameter, and an annular recess 44 formed between the first column 40 and the second column 42. When holding an inner panel 14 having a projection 32 by folding a flange 30 of an outer panel 12, the first column 40 is abutted on and pressed against an outer face end part 30a of the flange 30; the second column 42 is abutted on and pressed against an outer face base part 30b of the flange 30; and the hemming roller 10 is rolled in X-direction in which the flange 30 extends so that the annular recess 44 passes over the projection 32. Next, the first column 40 and the second column 42 are abutted on and pressed against the flange 30, and rolled in Y-direction so that the annular recess 44 passes over the projection 32, and a laminar projection 56 is obtained.
