A solid matter of Capsosiphon fulvescens is provided to most effectively preserve ingredients of the Capsosiphon fulvescens without modification. And a serum lipid improving and liver protecting agent comprising the same is provided to improve blood lipid metabolism by lowering triglyceride and blood cholesterol and decrease the levels of blood GOT, GPT and LDH, thereby being useful as a material of pharmaceutical composition, functional foods or health supplemental foods. A solid matter of Capsosiphon fulvescens is prepared by freeze-drying Capsosiphon fulvescens in a rapid freezer at a temperature of -70 to -80 deg.C, drying it in a lyophilizer and then crushing it. A serum lipid improving and liver protecting agent comprises the solid matter of Capsosiphon fulvescens as a main ingredient and a sitologically or a pharmaceutically acceptable material.
