PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dyke foot protective retaining wall that can positively ensure the stability of a dyke even under restrictions on securing a lot while attaining the enlargement of an effective utilization range of the lot and improvement in draining ability by improving the draining structure of a wedge block retaining wall. SOLUTION: The dyke foot protective retaining wall is constructed by stacking wedge blocks 17 on a foundation bottom plate 16 installed adjoining the back slope toe of a levee body 11 and connecting and integrating the wedge blocks to one another with backfill concrete 18 placed on the back face side. The foundation bottom plate 16 is composed of a channel block 20 of U-shaped cross section and a foundation cover block put on top of the channel block 20. A void in the channel block 20 is made a dyke foot waterway C, and the back face of the channel block 20 is provided with an intake 23. Water infiltrating into the levee body 11 is drained to the dyke foot waterway C from the intake 23 via a drain layer 14 inside the levee body 11, but since the dyke foot waterway C is provided in the foundation bottom plate 16, the effective utilization range of the lot B is enlarged by that portion.
