PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated paper for web offset printing excellent in glossiness, base paper-coating property and printing surface feeling and scarcely generating wavy wrinkle and blister, and to provide a method for producing the coated paper. SOLUTION: The coated paper for web offset printing has a coated layer mainly consisting of a pigment and an adhesive on a polyvinyl alcohol coated layer obtained by applying a coating liquid containing expanded polyvinyl alcohol having an average foam diameter of≥10μm and≤1,000μm at a coating amount of≥0.5g/m<SP>2</SP>and≤8.0g/m<SP>2</SP>as a solid content, expressed in terms of polyvinyl alcohol, based on one side of the base paper onto the one side or both sides of a base paper.
