The invention concerns the use of at least one diol and/or at least one triol as an additive to dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) in order to lower the crystallization point of same. The DMSO formulation is used in combination with the aforementioned additive as a paint-stripping composition, surface-cleaning composition, graffiti-cleaning composition, surface-cleaning composition in the microelectronics field as a photoresist-stripping agent, DMSO-based agrochemical composition or as a constituent of an aforementioned composition, as a solvent for dissolving polymers, or as a constituent of a composition that is usable in the field of cosmetology or pharmacy.
