<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-base pigment dispersion liquid excellent in dispersibility and dispersion stability, and storing stability, hardly causing particle size increase or viscosity increase even left standing for long period at a high temperature, and capable of giving a high image density, and an ink composition for inkjet recording. <P>SOLUTION: This water-base pigment dispersion liquid comprises a quinacrydone-based pigment, a quinacrydone-based compound having a phthalimide skeleton-containing substituent, water, a water soluble organic solvent, a styrene-acrylic resin having an anionic group and a glass transition temperature exceeding 60°C but ≤120°C, where the styrene-acrylic resin contains at least styrene and acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid as monomer components, and the content of the styrene component in the resin is 40 to 85 mass%.
