主权项 1. A method for converting a 3-phase AC input voltage characterized by 3 line voltages and an AC frequency into a DC output voltage, and providing a DC electrical power to a load characterized by a load value, comprising the steps of: a) defining a total switching time interval, wherein said total switching time interval is much smaller than the inverse of said AC frequency; b) defining an “on” time interval, wherein said “on” time interval is smaller than said total switching time interval; c) providing 3 converter inductors with effectively equivalent and small inductance, wherein each converter inductor is associated with a respective pair of said line voltages; d) providing a means to obtain full-wave rectified differences between said pairs of said line voltages; e) applying said full-wave rectified differences across said converter inductors for a duration of said “on” time interval; f) providing an output storage capacitor having a large capacitance, wherein said output storage capacitor is connected in parallel to said load, and wherein a voltage across said output storage capacitor is effectively equal to said DC output voltage; and g) applying said voltage across said output storage capacitor across said converter inductors, wherein said voltage across said storage capacitor is applied across each of said converter inductors at the end of said “on” time interval, and wherein said voltage across said storage capacitor is continuously applied across each of said respective converter inductors until effectively all electrical energy stored in each of said respective converter inductors at the end of said “on” time interval is transferred to said output storage capacitor.
