Packing element with friction engaging closure - has projection on side flange of lid to improve closing action

The packing element has a side flange which engages over or engages in a second element with friction engagement. At least one projection (7) is provided in the contact bearing race between the side flange (6) and the second element (2) to improve the cohesion between the two elements. The projection (7) can be formed by an impression (8) created in the side flange (6). The second element (2) can be a hollow or solid body of polygonal cross-section. The packing element can have a base held in friction engagement in the side flange to adjoin an inner shoulder thereof whereby the projection is mounted so that it holds the base adjoining the shoulder. USE/ADVANTAGE - The lid is held secure even against shocks and stresses.
