<p>PURPOSE: To solve the problem of material in a glass tank furnace technique, to avoid a remarkable erosion of electrodes and dust formation, to lessen the heat loss and to enable a higher inclusion rate of a flux by immersing the electrode from above into a molten liquid. CONSTITUTION: Filter dust is mixed with other material, such as lime, silica sand or flyash, in order to melt the filter dust in a melting furnace provided with a glass tank. The melting of the filter dust and the flux is executed by using a current supply electrode in a melting tank. More particularly, an electrode to be operated by AC of a line net frequency is immersed into a molten bath surface perpendicularly from above and the molten liquid is directly heated by current conduction. The immersion depth of the electrode is made regulatable and is controlled by the molten bat level and electrode burn, by which the melting tank is cooled in the range below the molten bath surface. Further, the space of the melting furnace existing above the molten bath surface is separated from the atmosphere enclosing the same by a cap-like hermetic sealing device.</p> |
