NUTRIENT PREPARATION FOR PERSON INFECTED WITH HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS

PURPOSE: To provide a enteral nutrient prepn. of high protein, low fat and high calorie having advantages of maintaining the gastrointestinal tracts of an HIV infected person at a normal level and prohibiting the worsening of his immune systems. CONSTITUTION: This nutrient pharmaceutical prepn. for enteral nutrition supplementation for the HIV infected person consists of (A) a first protein source consisting of the soybean protein hydrolysis product(SPH) of which 30 to 60% of the particles have a mol.wt. distribution of 1500 to 5000 dalton measured by a steric exclusion chromatography and more preferably the SPH having a hydrolysis rate is preferably 14 to 17 and <1% in the free amino acid in the amino acid compsn., (B) a second protein source consisting of the flawless (nondecomposed) protein (e.g.; sodium caseinate, whey protein separated matter) of the amt. sufficient for stable emulsification of the SPH and this flawless protein and (C) a fat source (e.g.; fish oil, canola oil) of 1.3:1 to 2.5:1 in the weight ratio of the total sum of n-3 fatty acid to the total sum of n-6 fatty acid. Dietary fiber sources (e.g.; soybean protein) are further compounded with this prepn.
